Enforcement of a 4 Day School Day Essay
Have you ever thought of having a 4 day weekday rather than a 5 day weekday, instead of that short 2 day of relaxation you gain another day to rest off that stress filled body to the luxurious sofa sitting at your house? Well some work places incorporated a 4 day weekend instead of the typical 5 day weekend and I feel as if we, the teachers and students, equally deserve a 3 day weekend, but thereââ¬â¢s a catch. The regular school day would be increased by 2 hours but we should want to decrease the amount of stress school gives us for these reasons, the lack of sleep kids already have, less cost of the utilities used in school, lessened suicide rate. First of all, an important fact is a teenager of the current generation gets a poor amount of sleep. The national health society states that a teenager should have a total of 9 hours and 20 minutes of sleep to perform at their best in school but in reality a student stacked with AP classes, sport, or a job gets far less than the nation al level. The average amount of sleep a teenager gets is under 5 hours for 25% of college and high school students which correlates with decreased performance that they show at school. Some schools in the U.S. has already tried this and one teacher at Chatnooga High School said,â⬠The kids are more attentive because they realize there is much less time so they come in and do it.â⬠Another great reason why we should have a 4 day weekend is a dramatic decrease in the cost of utility. Schools in Georgia saved an average of $800,000 on utility since there is a less need of transportation going back and forth from academy classes, and to drive students back and forth from school. From the slightest of restrooms being flushed, trim of transportation, and janitorial costs the school would save a dramatic amount of money and find the extra funds they need to fund school sports or school clubs if needed. And last but not least, lessening in suicide rate, the current suicide rate is at a new high in America but would dramatically decrease with a 3 day weekend. Kids would have more time to to hang out with their friends or find other fun thing to do such as an internship or volunteer around at hospitals. Due to the increase in time kids would be able to ration their homework that they were given to a slower rate or finish it all and have more time to hang out with their peers. The stress caused from school would not have a huge toll which was a huge factor in suicide. They would also have more time to talk to other such as friends about their personal problems and their friends in retrospective would have more free time to be able to talk to his/her friend and give him or her a serious answer instead of the teenager regular nod of the head or a shrug. In reality kids would gain a more beneficiary advantage for school from a 4 day school day rather than the current 5 day due to more sleep gained, lowered cost of utility, and lessened suicide rate.

Project Acquaintance Rape essays
Project Acquaintance Rape essays Acquaintance rape in which the rapist and the survivor previously knew each other is a larger problem than most people think. Between fifteen and thirty percent of college women have been the victim of acquaintance rape at some point in their lives and two-thirds of rape victims between the ages of eighteen and twenty nine know their attacker.[1] These alarming statistics indicate the need for women and men to take precautionary measures to prevent acquaintance rape. Alcohol and drugs are by far the largest issue associated with acquaintance rape. Statistics show that seventy-five percent of the date- rapists and fifty-five percent of the victims had been drinking or taking drugs before the rape occurred.[2] Women should avoid individuals, parties or groups, when either alcohol or drug use is excessive. Date rape drugs such as Rohyponol and GHB can be slipped into someone's drink to facilitate a sexual assault without the victim being able to remember what happened. Women should not accept beverages from someone they don't know and trust and should always watch their drink and never leave it unattended. [3] In addition to watching out for alcohol and drugs, women can take several steps to reduce their chances of become a victim of acquaintance rape. First, they need to learn to trust their instincts. If a place or the way a date is acting is making a woman nervous or uneasy, she should immediately leave. When possible, a woman should check out a first date or a blind date with friends. A woman should meet in and go to public places with someone she doesn't know well and she should either carry money for a phone call and taxi or take her own car. She also should not leave a social event with someone she's just met or doesn't know well.[4] A woman needs to watch out for personality traits of a date that are common to males involved in date rape. If a male...

Common Grammatical Errors Everyday vs. Every Day
Common Grammatical Errors Everyday vs. Every Day Almost every day, I see someone use ââ¬Å"everydayâ⬠in a sentence when they mean ââ¬Å"every day.â⬠Mixing up ââ¬Å"everydayâ⬠and ââ¬Å"every dayâ⬠is one of the most common grammatical errors. Newsflash:à ââ¬Å"Every dayâ⬠does NOT mean the same thing as ââ¬Å"everydayâ⬠!à If you find yourself writing either one of them, stop, breathe, and read the next section of this article. Every Day vs. Everyday What do these words mean? ââ¬Å"Every dayâ⬠(2 words) means ââ¬Å"happening or occurring each day.â⬠The compound word ââ¬Å"everydayâ⬠is an adjective meaning ââ¬Å"of or pertaining to every dayâ⬠; commonplaceâ⬠or ââ¬Å"regular.â⬠Given these definitions, letââ¬â¢s look at some examples of proper use: I walk to work every day. I wear my everyday shoes to walk to work; I change to my Manolo Blahniks upon arrival. It has snowed every day for the past week. Snow is an everyday event during Wisconsin winters. I wish I could eat chocolate all day every day! Some chocolate sure would spice up this everyday chili. A Trick to Remember Whether to Use Everyday or Every Day How will you remember the difference between ââ¬Å"every dayâ⬠and ââ¬Å"everydayâ⬠?à My simple trick is to add the word ââ¬Å"singleâ⬠between ââ¬Å"everyâ⬠and ââ¬Å"day;â⬠if it makes sense to insert this word, then the words must be separated by a space in place of the word ââ¬Å"single.â⬠à If inserting ââ¬Å"singleâ⬠does not work, youââ¬â¢re in the land of the adjective ââ¬Å"everyday.â⬠à Letââ¬â¢s try it with the examples here: I walk to work every single day.à (Makes sense so itââ¬â¢s 2 words) I wear my every single day shoes to walk to work.à (Doesnââ¬â¢t make sense so itââ¬â¢s 1 word) It has snowed every single day for the past week.à (Makes sense so itââ¬â¢s 2 words) Snow is an every single day event during Wisconsin winters. (Doesnââ¬â¢t make sense so itââ¬â¢s 1 word) Iââ¬â¢ll leave you to test the chocolate chili examples.à I promise they work. Everyday Examples I See Every Day Now letââ¬â¢s take a look at some common ways people misuse the word ââ¬Å"everyday.â⬠Iââ¬â¢ll use 3 examples from LinkedIn. In an email I received from a LinkedIn marketing expert, the following phrase appeared:à ââ¬Å"Great discussions and tips are taking place everyday with over 10,000 members.â⬠There are actually two problems with this sentence.à One is that tips do not take place, only discussions do; you would not say ââ¬Å"Great tips are taking place.â⬠à The other is that everyday is the adjective meaning commonplace.à The author meant that discussions are taking place every single day. Therefore the correct usage would be ââ¬Å"every dayâ⬠(2 words). A LinkedIn discussion title came across one of my groups: ââ¬Å"Fast way to make money everyday.â⬠Again, this writer means ââ¬Å"every single dayâ⬠so the correct way to express his idea would be ââ¬Å"Fast way to make money every day.â⬠Hereââ¬â¢s an example from a comment on one of my postings: ââ¬Å"You learn something new everyday.â⬠Do you see the error? I hope you are now highly trained in the distinction between ââ¬Å"every dayâ⬠and ââ¬Å"everydayâ⬠! Please pass this wisdom on to someone who will benefit from it today and every day. Biography of Lord Byron, English Poet and Aristocrat
Biography of Lord Byron, English Poet and Aristocrat Lord Byron is considered to be one of the greatest British writers and poets of his time. He became a leader in the Romantic Period, alongside contemporaries like William Wordsworth, John Keats, and Percy Bysshe and Mary Shelley. Fast Facts: Lord Byron Occupation: English poet, romanticistBorn: 22 January 1788 in London, EnglandDied: 19 April 1824 in Missolonghi, Ottoman EmpireParents: Captain John ââ¬Å"Mad Jackâ⬠Byron and Catherine GordonEducation: Trinity College, CambridgePublish Works: Hours of Idleness; Childe Haroldââ¬â¢s Pilgrimage, She Walks in Beauty, Don JuanSpouse: Anne Isabella MilbankeChildren: Ada Lovelace and Allegra ByronFamous Quote: There is pleasure in the pathless woods, there is rapture in the lonely shore, there is society where none intrudes, by the deep sea, and music in its roar; I love not Man the less but Nature more. Lord Byronââ¬â¢s personal life was marked by tumultuous love affairs and inappropriate sexual relationships, unpaid debts, and illegitimate children. Lady Caroline Lamb, with whom Byron had an affair, famously labeled him ââ¬Å"mad, bad, and dangerous to know.â⬠He died in 1824 at the age of 36 from a fever he contracted during his travels in Greece. His most notable works include Don Juan, She Walks in Beauty, and Childe Haroldââ¬â¢s Pilgrimage. Early Life Lord Byron was born in 1788 in London under the full name George Gordon Noel, sixth Baron Byron. He was raised in Aberdeen, Scotland, by his mother after his father fled the family and died in 1791 in France. Byron inherited his title at the age of 10, though he later adopted his mother-in-lawââ¬â¢s family name, Noel, in order to inherit half of her estate. Imagno/Hulton Archive/Getty Images Byronââ¬â¢s mother was prone to mood swings and heavy drinking. Due to mistreatment by his mother coupled with a deformed foot and an uneven temper, Byron lacked discipline and structure in his formative years. He was educated at Harrow School in London, followed by Trinity College at Cambridge, though he spent most of his time at the latter engaging in sexual relationships and sporting activities. It was during this time that he began writing and publishing works.à Marriage, Affairs, and Children Lord Byron first showed his affections for a distant cousin who indulged him for a while before rejecting his affections. In subsequent years, Byron had promiscuous affairs with many women, including Lady Caroline Lamb, Lady Oxford, and his half-sister, Augusta Leigh, who later gave birth to a daughter widely considered to be Byronââ¬â¢s. Lord Byron married Anne Isabella Milbanke in January 1815, and the following year she gave birth to a daughter, Augusta Ada (later Ada Lovelace). Shortly after the birth of their daughter, Lord and Lady Byron separated, with Anne Isabella indicating the cause to be his incestual relations with his half-sister. During this time, Lord Byron developed a close relationship with Percy and Mary Shelley and Maryââ¬â¢s sister Claire Clairmont, who also had a daughter with Byron called Allegra.à Travels After completing his education at Cambridge, Lord Byron embarked on a two-year journey across Spain, Portugal, Malta, Albania, and Greece, from which he drew inspiration for Childe Haroldââ¬â¢s Pilgrimage. After Byron finalized the separation from his wife, he left England permanently for Switzerland, where he spent time with the Shelleys. He went on to travel across Italy engaging in promiscuous affairs, writing and publishing work along the way. He spent six years in Italy, where he wrote and released Don Juan. Newstead Abbey, Nottinghamshire, 18th century. The abbey was formerly an Augustinian priory but was converted into a domestic home following the Dissolution of the Monasteries. It is the ancestral home of Lord Byron. Hulton Archive / Getty Images In 1823, Lord Byron was asked to assist in the Greek War of Independence from the Ottoman Empire. He sold his estate in England to raise money for the Greek cause, part of which he used to enable a fleet of ships to sail to Missolonghi, where he planned to help attack the Turks. Death While in Missolonghi, Lord Byron contracted a fever and died at the age of 36. His heart was removed and buried in Missolonghi, and his body was returned to England. His burial at Westminster Abbey was denied, so Byron was buried in his family tomb in Newstead. He was deeply mourned in England and in Greece.à Legacy After spurning his initial affections, Lady Caroline Lamb labeled Lord Byron ââ¬Å"mad, bad, and dangerous to know,â⬠a statement that stuck with him for life and beyond. Because of his generous financial support and acts of bravery in the Greek Wars of Independence, Lord Byron is widely considered to be a Greek national hero. However, his true legacy is the collection of work he left behind. Don Juan Don Juan is a satirical epic poem written by Lord Byron during the last years of his life. It is based on the legendary womanizer Don Juan, though Lord Byron reversed these character traits to make Don Juan easily susceptible to seduction. The poem is considered to be a reflection of Byronââ¬â¢s personal character and the disappointment with which he felt constantly burdened. Don Juan is comprised of 16 completed sections, called cantos and a final, 17th canto that remained unfinished at the time of Byronââ¬â¢s death in 1824. Childe Haroldââ¬â¢s Pilgrimage Written and released between 1812 and 1818, Childe Haroldââ¬â¢s Pilgrimage tells the story of a young man who travels the world to fill the void left by disillusionment and sadness he feels as a result of the revolutionary wars on the European continent. Much of the content in Childe is derived from Byronââ¬â¢s personal travels from Portugal to Constantinople. Sources Byron, George Gordon.à Don Juan. The Catholic Church Article Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
The Catholic Church - Article Example Catholics become a full fledged member of the People of God, Christ's mystical body, the Church that Jesus Christ built on the Rock, Peter (Mt. 16: 16), and on his successors, the Bishops of Rome. For this purpose of His incarnation Jesus taught man His gospel, suffered and died on the cross and then arose from the dead. He instituted the sacraments and established one true church, a society made of the baptized. It is one, holy, catholic and apostolic, indefectible and infallible. Its rulers are the Bishops, successors of the apostles, under the successor of Peter, the Bishop of Rome. The Catholic Church also fosters the ways that God provides fervenient graces which helps Catholics to continue to strengthen their faith. The channels of God's grace are principally the seven sacraments, which are sensible signs (words and acts) that signify ad confer grace, and are administered by the Church. Baptism makes us Catholics and remits the original sin inherited from our first parents, and the personal sins we may have at the time. Confirmation gives us the grace of the Holy Spirit to make us strong in the faith we received in Baptism.

IN VITRO FERTILIZATION Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
IN VITRO FERTILIZATION - Research Paper Example According to the World Health Organization, ââ¬Å"Infertility is the inability to conceive a child. A couple may be considered infertile if, after two years of regular sexual intercourse, without contraception, the woman has not become pregnant (and there is no other reason, such as breastfeeding or postpartum amenorrhea).â⬠Infertility may be classified as either primary infertility or secondary infertility. Primary infertility refers to infertility where there is no history of even a single pregnancy. Secondary infertility is defined as infertility where there is a history of a previous pregnancy. Infertility may result owing to reproductive problems arising within the males or the females. There are many reasons which can affect the normal capacity of conceiving. These include the increase age of females, smoking by males and females, decreased coital occurrence and consumption of alcohol in increased amounts. Other factors include altered body mass index of the females and certain drugs which alter the normal reproductive capacity. The increased occurrence of infertility has led to the creation of management techniques to correct this issue. In vitro fertilization is one such technique which is used by the couples for the purpose of conception. This technique which is also referred to as IVF is the combining of an ovum and sperm in the laboratory for creating an embryo. This embryo is then artificially implanted into the uterus of the female (American Pregnancy Association 2007a; American Pregnancy Association. 2007b; Monga et al., 2011). In vitro fertilization is a very expensive procedure and mostly it does not lie under the insurance coverage in many states in America. The cost for one complete cycle of in vitro fertilization is not marked to be constant for every person. But the estimated cost is believed to range from 12,000 to 17,000 dollars. This is the initial cost that has to be paid for the entire procedure with the inclusion of the medicati ons. If other artificial reproductive techniques are used along with In vitro fertilization the cost can be higher. If the couple requires an ovum and sperm donor the cost is raised as per the requirement. If an ovum is required the cost can increase to 25,000 to 30,000 dollars. If a sperm is required, the cost may rise to 13,000 to 17,000 dollars. These costs are implicated for only one cycle and if unsuccessful, complete costs are to be repaid for the carrying out of the entire process of in vitro fertilization again (Dugdale et al.,2009; Gurevich 2011). Different investigations are to be completed prior to the initiation of the procedure. A general physical examination of the female should be performed along with the examination of the pelvis. The genitals of the males should also be examined. A semen analysis report of the male should be performed for ensuring the viability of the sperms and to check if there will be a need for a donor. Follicular stimulating hormone, luteinizin g hormone and estradiol levels should be checked for the females during the follicular phase. This should be followed by a hysterosalpingogram. An ultrasound of the pelvis should also be performed to locate any uterine pathology. In vitro fertilization is performed following the completion of these tests. The procedure involves the completion of five basic steps. The first step is the introduction of medicines to lead to the production of ova that can be used for the fertilization. FSH is introduced within the female body to promote the production of up to 10 ova. This is followed by the administration of hCG which causes the ovaries to release eggs. The second step is the collection of the eggs. This is done with using a needle is then performed with the assistance of
Needs Analysis of Microsoft Corporation Research Paper
Needs Analysis of Microsoft Corporation - Research Paper Example At the point when the event is harmful, some inspiration or objective of the hackers must be determined and addressed through the most appropriate measures. For example, the goal could be aimed at upsetting ordinary business operations, consequently denying information accessibility and production. Microsoft has been a leader in the design and programming of computer software, including operating systems and software applications. However, the future of Microsoft, as said by Steve Ballmer, the companyââ¬â¢s CEO, is that of both a hardware and software corporation. According to the CEO, in about five to ten years, the company will be a manufacturer of devices as an addition to its software services and applications. The hardware, which the company is expected to manufacture in the future, includes Windows 8 Surface Tablets. In addition, it is postulated that the company will produce Windows 8 Smartphones. The entry into the mobile phone and telecommunication industry by Microsoft is likely to shape or change the competitiveness of this industry to a large extent hence the need for security. This clearly shows that Microsoft Corporation requires adequate security measures. Most firms such as Microsoft Corporation are on the look for superior and successful ways of managing their safety infrastructure. Nonetheless, technological advancement is a human innovation, but it surpasses human control. This is why most companies are afraid of security threats brought about by change while at the same time; they have to embrace technology as a means of improving their sales. Network threats and attacks are some of the challenges facing security personnel in various industries. This has pushed security operators to consider using complex systems or models to ensure compliance. In addition, these security threats call for stringent and network-wide security policies. The reason why most companies consider using sophisticated
